Hugo Hernqvist är Konstforum i Skånes första residensstipendiat

Juryns motiving löd:

"We chose Hugo Hernqvist for this residency due to his unique ability to blend personal and regional narratives with immersive installations. His work, deeply rooted in the history and stories of Skåne, invites viewers to engage actively with the art, creating their own interpretations.

The artist’s focus on places where the past and present intersect makes Spinnerei Leipzig an ideal setting for their next project. His interest in exploring new mediums, like etching, and his commitment to artistic growth align perfectly with the residency’s goals. Hugo Hernqvist will bring fresh perspectives and contribute meaningfully to the Spinnerei Leipzig community."

Hernqvist har studerat Fri konst på HDK–Valand och Kunstakademiet i Bergen, men är nu tillbaka i sin hemregion Skåne. Han har ställt ut på bland annat Göteborgs Konstförening, Bror Hjorts Hus och Detriti Gallery. Hernqvist är representerad i Region Uppsalas samt Uppsala Kommuns konstsamlingar och arbetar även som illustratör.

Residenset innefattar en ateljéplats på Spinnerei Leipzig, en veckovis etsverkstad, deltagande i en curaterad utställning samt ett stipendium.

Juryn bestod av representanter från LIA (The Leipzig International Art Programme) och Goetheinstitutet. Residenset är arrangerat av Konstnärscentrum Syds initiativ Konstforum i Skåne, i samarbete med LIA, Goetheinstitutet och Region Skåne.
